As announced, is set to unfold from April 15th to April 21st, 2024, in the city of Milan. Following tradition, the Salone del Mobile 2024 will commence on Tuesday, April 16th, welcoming attendees to the Rho Fiera Milano spaces.

The main theme for 2024 will be, “Materia Natura” a concept that encourages a thoughtful design culture by delving into the profound connection between these two pivotal words. Emphasizing as a guiding principle and fundamental value in creative and design processes, this theme invites a profound exploration of the interplay between “Materia” (matter) and “Natura” (nature).

Throughout human history, contemplation of nature has been ingrained in cultural pursuits, transforming it into an entity separate from ourselves, much like the manipulation and study of matter. Yet, it is in their relationship with humanity that these concepts converge, displaying a harmonious interconnection.

The term “nature” serves as a poignant reminder of pressing contemporary issues, urging the promotion of projects geared toward increasingly sustainable and environmentally friendly solutions. Simultaneously, the term “matter” initiates a natural dialogue with design, creative thinking, and the aspiration to envision endless and plausible transformations.

Building upon the thematic foundations of past editions, such as “Forme dell'Abitare” “Tra Spazio e Tempo” and “Laboratorio Futuro” “Materia Natura” extends this trajectory, reinforcing the values of a conscious project culture. It takes a step further by amplifying and deepening the vision, placing sustainability at the forefront as a guiding principle and essential virtue in the creative and design process.

Milan Design Week 2024's theme provides a significant opportunity to explore and unveil the various dimensions in which nature can serve as a wellspring of inspiration, design material, and a guiding force for a sustainable future.

2024

Milan Design Week 2024 Salone del Mobile Milano

The primary focal points of Salone del Mobile 2024 will encompass the significance of visionary power and innovation in the realms of significant events and industrial design.

There will be an emphasis on fostering an increasingly human-centric and inclusive culture that prioritizes communities and individuals. Additionally, the necessity for multidisciplinary dialogue across diverse cultural and geographical domains will be highlighted.

Last but not least, sustainability, an area where the Salone del Mobile has already achieved a significant milestone, will be underscored. The event secured ISO 20121 certification for sustainable events management in its latest edition.

As announced during the Worldwide Tour, the process initiated with Euroluce 2023, which transformed the dedicated pavilions into curvilinear paths featuring spaces for rest and cultural entertainment, continues with the revision for EuroCucina 2024 and the International Bathroom Exhibition.

Lombardini22 has once again been entrusted with the reorganization, ensuring a seamless evolution of the event's spatial dynamics: departing from the conventional decumanus, a new approach draws inspiration from concentric cities. The design features internal ring boulevards, with exhibitors overlooking from both sides, resembling shop windows along a bustling downtown street.

Milan Design Week 2024 promises to be a convergence of creativity, sustainability, and visionary design thinking. With “Materia Natura” taking center stage, attendees can anticipate a week filled with immersive experiences, thought-provoking discussions, and a celebration of design that is not only aesthetically pleasing but also environmentally conscious. The Salone del Mobile 2024, with its innovative layout and commitment to sustainability, serves as a testament to the event's evolution, ensuring it remains at the forefront of the global design landscape.
