/Studio OMA-AMO at presents Tales from the Neoliberal City, September 15, 2017 – at 6.30 pm.


The Sicilian architect Ippolito Pestellini Laparelli is partner and artistic director at OMA-AMO, the well-known Rotterdam-based studio founded by the archistar Rem Koolhaas since 2017. At OMA-AMO Pestellini Laparelli develops projects with a particular focus on preservation, scenography and curation, including the renovation of Kaufhaus des Westens (KaDeWe) in Berlin (ongoing); Panda, an exhibit for the 2016 Oslo Triennale; Fondaco dei Tedeschi, a landmark building in Venice (2016); the design of Repossi's flagship store on Place Vendôme in Paris (2016); Monditalia, a multi-disciplinary exhibition focused on Italy, at the 2014 Venice Biennale; scenography for the Greek theater of Syracuse in Sicily (2012); and the co-curation of Cronocaos, OMA's exhibition on preservation at the 2010 Venice Architectural Biennale.

Together with OMA-AMO Studio Ippolito Pestellini Laparelli will be one of the four interdisciplinary creative mediators coordinating the team for urban studies in Palermo, Sicily. Manifesta 12, the nomadic European Contemporary Art Biennial, will open on 16 June 2018 until 4 November 2018. 

Fabrica is a communication research centre. It is based in Treviso, Italy, and is an integral part of the Benetton Group. Established in 1994 from a vision of Luciano Benetton, Fabrica offers young people from around the world a one-year scholarship, accommodation and a round-trip ticket to Italy, enabling a highly diverse group of researchers. The range of disciplines is equally diverse, including design, visual communication, photography, interaction, video, music and journalism. Fabrica is based in a campus centred on a 17th-century villa, restored and significantly augmented by renowned Japanese architect .
