The invites Expressions of Interest for the role of Creative Director for the Australian Pavilion at the 17th 2020.

The Venice Biennale is one of the oldest and most prestigious international exhibitions of architecture, showcasing leaders in contemporary design and architecture from around the world. The Venice Biennale is a unique opportunity to reach non- traditional and underserved audiences. The Institute, through its Venice Biennale Committee, aims to engage these audiences in Venice and through local outreach activities associated with the exhibition.

The Venice Biennale Committee's vision is to cement Australian representation internationally and nationally by showcasing the highest standards of Australian architecture and architectural innovation.

The Committee aims to develop exhibitions that showcase Australian architectural thinking, culture and design, and that tell a rich and engaging story about architecture and the Australian built environment to an international audience. The successful Creative Directors will both speculate and analyse our culture and the 2020 theme

The successful team will be on the world stage of architecture and culture and expected to be an exemplar for the Australian architectural profession.

The Australian Institute of Architects has facilitated Australia's representation at the Venice Architecture Biennale since 2005. Their commitment have been substantial and ongoing with successful exhibitions at the last seven Biennales.

Who cannot remember about multi sensory installation space within the Australian Pavilion in 2016 called the Pool? The exhibition brought together a complex collaborative group combining multiple creative industries, academics, technical and engineering experts and nationally significant cultural commentators.

As already announced the theme of the Architecture Venice Biennale 2020 is ‘How will we live together?'
